Great news! Web Audio is now available on Android Chrome (version 29.0.1547.72)
This appears to be an excellent implementation, with none of the restrictions encountered in html audio on android. We have tested SoundJS, and everything works as expected.
Testing Results:
- Enabled by default (ie not behind a flag).
- No user interaction required to begin playback!
- The only flaw I could find was with short Rat Damage and Seagull Damage sounds from TestSuite example not sounding quite right.
Tests conducted on a samsung galaxy s3.
It’d be great if soundjs could implement the new capabilities of web audio api like a music clock for games or sequencers in an easy way… http://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/audio/scheduling/
wouldn’t it?
;)
Interestingly SoundJS already implements the look ahead technique discussed in that article to enable smooth looping. Unfortunately because SoundJS is meant to provide a simple way to play audio that is consistent regardless of what api is used for playback (web audio, html audio tags, or flash), we do not take advantage of some of the advanced features of web audio.
We have, however, exposed the audio context and nodes so that advanced users can build extra features on top of soundjs. You can see an example of this in the Music Visualizer demo http://www.createjs.com/#!/SoundJS/demos/visualizer
Thanks for your feedback, I hope the explanation makes sense.
